Introducing Mae :)

Hi :)

My name's Mae, I'm an illustrator.

I'm originally from South Wales, and a masters student at Aberystwyth University.

And I love a good story.

I've always loved films and books, something that grips you into the narrative and leaves you with new ideas. And I've always created: drawn with crayons, painted with acrylic until I discovered that gouache was SOOO much easier to work with, and went into university thinking I'd become a painter. That was until a lil 5-week workshop in illustration and the release of the Netflix film 'Sea Beasts' inspired new possibilities - dissecting all the magical elements that go into each scene, each composition to tell the story visually was electric: seeing how people use colour, light, line and perspective to affect the audience without dialogue... I was hooked.

In my master's course, my aim is to create an interesting narrative and visual components to bring it to life; thinking critically about character design and motion, crafting compositions and incorporation animation and 3D elements to expand my practice.
